Voters will pay for school board
It would be funny if only we did not care so much. Only five years ago Douglas County voted out a group of conservative school board “reformers” because their six-year experiment in vouchers and other measures led to low morale and high attrition among school employees. And now Douglas County has voted them back in again. Can memories really be so short?
We are hardly a month into their new term and already the new board members have eliminated masking requirements, changed the district’s equity policy, held a potentially illegal meeting aimed at pushing out the district’s superintendent and provoked a sick-out among the district’s employees. Elections have consequences and Douglas County schools are about to pay the price for their voters short memories.
