Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JSCO) received a 911 call of a home invasion in progress in the 5500 block of South Eldridge Street around 3 a.m. Jan. 20.
According to the JSCO press release, the caller reported an unknown person had broken down the front door and was wandering around inside the home. Two residents in the home, armed with a handgun had hidden in the basement and eventually were able to crawl through a window to wait for deputies to arrive at the scene.
A K9 officer and his K9 partner Geist, responded to the scene, making several requests inside of the residence for the suspect to show themselves to deputies.
“The suspect failed to comply with deputy’s commands,” the JSCO statement said. “During the K9 team search of the residence, the suspect was located hiding behind a couch.”
The suspect, 39-year-old Aris Ashford, sustained superficial bite wounds while being apprehended by Geist. He was then transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital where he was treated and released back to deputies. Ashford is currently being held at the Jeffco Detentions Facility for Suspicion of 2nd Degree Burglary, Felony Criminal Mischief and theft.
