Residents of Colorado were able get free KN95 and surgical grade masks at various community locations beginning Jan. 19, thanks to the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
Residents can pick up the masks from any location, no matter where they live. For Brighton, Commerce City, Northglenn, Thornton and Westminster, sites are at Anythink Libraries, College Hill Library (3705 W 112th St) adjacent to Front Range Community College and Irving Street Library (7392 Irving St) in Historic Westminster during regular hours.
“We are on a mission to help Coloradans keep themselves safe, and free medical grade masks are far more effective in preventing infection than cloth masks. By making free medical grade masks available at libraries across our state and soon for home delivery, we are giving Coloradans a powerful tool to avoid infection,” said Colorado Governor Polis.
The action comes after the CDC clarified on Jan. 14 that cloth masks do not offer as good of protection as N95 masks. As well, Colorado’s COVID cases remain higher than they have ever been.
For a free Covid test, residents must pre-register. Tests can be found at free COVID-19 testing sites in Adams, Arapahoe and Douglas Counties at tchd.org, the Tri-County Health Department official website.
