As the New Year comes into full view, Parker Mayor Jeff Toborg and Chamber of Commerce CEO TJ Sullivan answered questions from Colorado Community Media about 2021 and what their expectations are for 2022.

What was one of your major takeaways from 2021? What did you learn this year?
My major takeaway for 2021 was that our citizens want to be heard and demand their freedom to choose and our business owners want to be free to conduct business as they see fit.
It’s not so much what I learned this year, but what was reinforced to me. Those who call Parker home, love their town with passion and we are blessed to be able to live in this amazing community.
What prediction(s) do you have for the Town of Parker in 2022?
The Town of Parker will continue to be an economic development driver in the Denver metro, attracting amazing businesses that will continue to boost an already thriving economy. I also predict that our neighbors and friends will continue to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle.
What do you hope to accomplish next year?
My goals for 2022 include:
Continue working to hold RTD accountable for the now $13 million we remit on behalf of taxpayers. Address the tax on Food for Home Consumption (Grocery Tax). Bring more primary employers and industry (such as aerospace and bio science) to Parker while continuing to market and brand Parker as a great place to live, work, play and learn.

What was one of your major takeaways from 2021? What did you learn this year?
There is a huge amount of entrepreneurial energy here that hungers for support and encouragement. Parker is an amazing place to start a business and there’s no shortage of folks chasing that dream. I also learned that there is a whole lot of Parker that isn’t downtown or just on Parker Road and the chamber is committed to serving members in every corner, including home-based businesses.
What prediction(s) do you have for the Town of Parker in 2022?
An expanded vision for Downtown Parker is going to start taking shape in 2022 as the town prioritizes the development of dormant and underutilized property. Construction might not happen this year, but I bet deals and plans will come together that will require some expert planning and talent.
I also think the PACE Center is going to book more 80’s acts. But, maybe that’s just a hope.
What do you hope to accomplish next year?
Parker Days is coming back in 2022 and I want it to feel safe and fun for the people who live and visit Parker.
