The Town of Elizabeth is looking for an interested resident to fill a vacancy on the Board of Trustees following the death of Trustee Bret Wade on Nov. 28.
In a short phone correspondence on Dec. 21 with Patrick Davidson, the new Elizabeth town administrator, he stressed the importance of the role and encouraged those interested to apply.
“Serving on the Board of Trustees is a great opportunity for someone interested to give back to the community,” said Davidson. “The trustees get to participate in shaping the future of Elizabeth and the area, leaving a lasting legacy.”
Wade, 47, died of COVID, according to a Dec. 18 article in Colorado Politics.
To qualify for consideration as an appointed trustee, individuals must fulfill the following criteria:
• Must have resided in the Town of Elizabeth for a minimum of one year.
Applicants must know that an Elizabeth address does not necessarily mean they reside in the Town of Elizabeth. Residency is not based solely on a mailing address; it means living within the town boundaries. If you are interested in the position and are unsure if you are town resident, call 303-646-4166 to verify.
• Be a U.S. citizen.
• Be a registered elector (voter) of the Town of Elizabeth.
• Have an interest in town affairs.
• No experience in town government is necessary.
The appointment to fill the vacancy will be for a term that would begin on the effective date of the appointment and end at a Town Board meeting following the certification of the November 2022 election results.
The Board of Trustees will review applications and appoint one individual to fill the vacancy at a scheduled board meeting. Letters of interest with resumes will be accepted up to Monday, January 3, 2022, at 5 p.m.
If interested, please submit a letter of interest to: Town Hall, Attn: Town Clerk, PO Box 159, Elizabeth, CO 80107; drop off at Town Hall, 151 S. Banner St.; or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
