Mayor Nancy McNally honored the Chamber of Commerce for helping local businesses with a special proclamation Nov. 27.

McNally handed over the Small Business Saturday proclamation to Juliet Abdel, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Westminster Chamber of Commerce, and Hannah Curtis, a Coordinator of the North Metro Small Business Development Center.

The City declared Nov. 27 as Small Business Saturday to place emphasis on shopping local. The tradition to designate the Saturday between Black Friday and Cyber Monday came in 2010 to encourage Westminster residents to support local businesses.

“Thank you for your support to small businesses,” Abdel said after accepting the proclamation.

City employees honored

Staff members who have worked 20 years or more were presented with a certificate and a pin at Nov. 27’s meeting. The awards are normally given in the spring, but the presentation was delayed last March due to COVID.
