Two in a row for the Cougars!
The Evergreen High School poms squad traveled to Arvada West High School last week, and won its second consecutive league title, beating out other Jeffco 4A squads in what Head Coach Sophie Updike called the girls’ first major competition of the season.
“So proud of the team for remaining flexible and hard working through the ever changing challenges and opportunities that the past year has presented us with,” Updike said.
“What was most amazing about the competition was that the team put their best performance on the floor.”
The team picked a good time to peak, as the win sends the poms squad on to the CHSAA Spirit State Championships on Dec. 11 in Colorado Springs. The State Championship is held at the Broadmoor World Arena.
dedication and love from the 16 incredible Athletes.
Updike said she wanted to thank “the whole Pom family, with amazing efforts from the athletes parents’ in particular, and the coaching staff including Melissa Thomas, Melissa Berninzoni and Jesse Florquist.”
