Season C in Colorado high school sports has kicked off its seasons with field hockey, girls gymnastics, boys soccer, girls volleyball and unified bowling teams in action.

The following is a roundup of a few early season games and matches from details that were reported:

Boys Soccer

Arapahoe 1, Overland 0 – Caleb Ballard, off an assist from Caleb Gienger, scored the game-winning goal in a March 23 victory for the Warriors who were ranked eighth in the CHSAANow.com preseason poll.

Cherry Creek 3, Grandview 1 – The fourth-ranked Bruins scored twice in the second half in a March 23 win. The Bruins were extended into overtime but came away with a 2-1 victory over Smoky Hill on March 25.

Castle View 7, Douglas County 0 – Junior Jack Pucciano had six points on two goals and two assists in a March 24 win over the crosstown rival Huskies.

Girls Volleyball

Valor Christian 3, Regis Jesuit 2 – The fourth-ranked Eagles won the deciding fifth set, 15-10, in a win over Regis Jesuit on March 23. Senior Hailey Bowman 16 kills and Erin McNair had 34 digs for Valor.

Douglas County 3, Dakota Ridge 2 – Junior Amaris Smith had 23 kills in the Huskies win on March 23 over Dakota Ridge with a 15-8 win in the fifth set. Caty Clancy had 21 digs and Halle Feth 38 assists for Douglas County.

Lutheran 3, Stargate School 0 – Audrey Brgoch had 11 kills and a 73.3 kills percentage in a March 25 victory. Brgoch also had 10 service aces for the Lions who were third in the Class 3A poll.

Littleton 3, Kennedy 0 – Allison Groustra had nine kills and Breanna McDowell was credited with 18 assists in a March 27 triumph.

Chaparral 2, Regis Jesuit 1 – The top-ranked Wolverines outscored the Raiders 25-16 in the third set to post a victory on March 26.

Mountain Vista 3, Rocky Mountain 0 – Kelli Ell had 15 kills and Grace Holmgren added 30 assists in a win on March 24.

Field Hockey

Cherry Creek 5,Denver East 0 – Senior Samantha Shoflick had two goals and two assists for six points for second-ranked Creek in a March 24 victory over Denver East.

Mountain Vista 3, Fossil Ridge 0 – Three different players scored in a March 26 victory. Lauren DosSantos, Zoe Henningsen and McKenna Riley collected the Vista goals.

State Spirit

The state spirit championships were held March 23-24 at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs.

Douglas County was the Class 5A Cheer champions with 92.00 points. Chaparral was second, Rock Canyon third and Legend fourth.

Valor Christian garnered 96.95 points to win the 4A/5A GameDay competition while Rock Canyon captured the Class 5A Poms title with 91.15 points. Cherry Creek was second and Ponderosa fourth.

Mountain Visa captured the Jazz title which was the 11th spirit championship for the Golden Eagles and the fourth Jazz win.
