PUEBLO — After losing in the quarterfinal round, Northglenn’s Nico Gonzalez fought his way through the consolation round at 106 pounds to place fourth at the state 5A meet March 13.
Gonzales’ wins were in the consolation semifinals, a 7-1 win over Lakewood’s Isaiah Sisneros, and an 11-4 decision over Israel Pulicio of Pine Creek to start his trip through the consolation draw.
Gonzales also lost in the quarterfinals to Ponderosa’s Otto Black by a score of 12-3.
Grandview’s Frankie Sanchez Jr. beat Gonzalez by pinfall in the third-place match.
Gonzales also won his second-round consolation match, a 7-1 decision over Isaiah Sisneros of Lakewood.
