Recall died, now fund schools

As a public school teacher and Douglas County parent, I feel deep empathy for parents who have struggled with this unprecedented and enormously difficult year. I’ve resigned myself that I probably won’t change the minds of those who were adamantly on board with the (now rescinded) recall effort, but instead, I would like to ask this: If you care about the health and future of our public schools, I hope you’ll consider raising your voice and your vote with as much passion next time (and any time) a future ballot issue arises that will fund our public schools.

While anger and frustration are natural responses to the trauma we’ve endured as a collective society this year, recalling a school board seems to be a knee-jerk reaction to an impossible situation aggravated by years of neglect and underfunding of our public schools.
