Trader Joe’s may be coming to Parker after the popular grocery store chain submitted a licensing application to the town in December.

The fermented malt beverage, or liquor license application, was made for a lot near the town’s Costco at 18374 Cottonwood Drive, Suite 150.

“At this time, we are in the very early stages and are taking the necessary steps to bring a store to the area,” said Kenya Friend-Daniel, a spokesperson with Trader Joe’s.

“I do not have a timeline to share at this time. I look forward to sharing more information as I get it.”

The public hearing for the liquor license will be Feb. 18 during a Special Licensing Authority meeting. Residents can join this meeting by visiting parkeronline.org/2118 and selecting the “Special Licensing Authority” meeting listed for that date.

Transmark, a local developer, has also submitted a site plan for the lot listed on Trader Joe’s application.

Trader Joe’s, which is a national chain, has seven other locations in Colorado with two stores in Denver and one each in Greenwood Village, south Jefferson County, Boulder, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins. The store offers many unique products under its own brand.

“We can’t confirm anything yet but we do have an application for a liquor license on file,” Parker Mayor Jeff Toborg said. “We’re very excited.”
