RTD is planning to stop all of its bus service from the 285 Corridor and Evergreen to and from Denver beginning Jan. 10.

That means the CV/CS and the EV/ES routes would be canceled. The RTD board of directors plans to make a decision next month.

The district, which is projecting a $215 million shortfall in 2021, is looking for ways to cut its budget, and that includes changes to other routes in metro Denver. It is taking comments from the public through Wednesday, Oct. 14.

According to the RTD website, the foothills bus routes would be replaced with an RTD-paid Uber/Lyft service partnership and/or a taxi-voucher program. RTD is also considering carpool and vanpool options through the Denver Regional Council of Governments.

The plan includes laying off 550 employees in full- and part-time positions and leaving another 300 positions unfilled.

Two more public hearings are planned: at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and at 6 p.m. Monday. Written comments will be taken through Wednesday by emailing service.changes@rtd-denver.com.
