What makes you the best choice for this office?
I have spent the last 20 years working to forge bonds between brands and consumers, I create growth strategies based on dialogue and connection. I’d like to use the same framework that I use professionally to enhance the Town of Parker’s relationship with its residents. It takes teamwork to make the dream work. I will seek to connect rather than divide and work collaboratively with residents, businesses, and special districts to ensure that the lines of communication flow smoothly and decisions are made that always support our community.
If you’re elected, what is one single issue that will be at the top of your agenda?
The Town of Parker’s population already exceeds the 2035 population projections in the Master Plan, 15 years early! It took eight years to reach the population that authors of the Master Plan said would take 25 years to achieve. With such fast-paced growth, it would be foolish to assume that all of the town’s growth needs have been met. Responsible government would include a holistic evaluation of the growth that has occurred and looking at everything from population projections, demographics, infrastructure needs, and community resources in order to fill in the holes with planned thoughtful development.
If you’re elected, what must you accomplish in order for you to consider your term a success?
Lack of transparency leads to a lot of distrust with the town council. In talking with residents, many say it’s difficult to figure out what’s going. There’s not a lot of consistency with published information. Success is ensuring information is easily accessible and streamlined for the community. As a professional researcher, community engagement is a cornerstone of effective government. The town is gauging feedback and participation with “Let’s Talk Parker.” Unfortunately, residents are not aware nor are they using the platform. We need to push this out to the residents and let them know their input is valued!
In your view, what is (or should be) the role and responsibility of a Parker Town Council member?
The role of a Parker Town Council member is to allocate the Town of Parker’s $100 million budget, create laws and policies, and make decisions on approval or denial of pending development plans within the town.
Why are you seeking this office?
I’ve always been involved in community and am passionate about government and policy. I love the Town of Parker, it’s why I moved here. As my children are getting older, I strive to make Parker a place they are proud to grow-up in. I also want to make it a place that they want to return to, and to ensure they can afford to do so. I’ve had six years to watch from the sidelines, engage with my neighbors, and realize that the town council’s authority has become more and more consolidated while the community’s input is haphazardly being considered.
