CONIFER — Thins started out fine for Frederick’s softball team in its first-round game of the state 4A tournament. But they didn’t end that way.
Conifer scored at least one run in each turn at bat and beat the Warriors 14-4 in five innings.
FHS scored the first two runs of the game, then surrendered four to the Lobos in the home half of the first.
Haley Howell had three hits and drove in a couple of runs for the Warriors. Mackenzie Sais, Elli Clapp, Peyton Gale and Ali Davis had the remainder of Frederick’s base hits.
Cheyenne Prieto had two hits and three RBIs for Conifer. So did Regan Pell. Amber Prescott contributed a base hit and a pair of RBIs.
