There is a wise Dakota, Sioux tribal saying, passed from one generation to another. It basically goes like this: “When you discover you’re riding a dead horse; the best strategy is to get off.” This seems simple enough and quite obvious.  But,  given our current events, it seems to be missed by many,

Those who continue to be Trump supporters … take note.  In these past 4 years, the ride with Trump has been divisive, chaotic, undisciplined, supportive of white supremacists, with a man who is a compulsive liar, amoral, turns his back on allies, spurns science and the advice of intelligent people, is un-grounded in principles of equality and empathy, and through his actions shows a complete contempt for laws.

Friends …. it is time. Dismount.  While you are at it, take your saddle of pride, patriotism and passion with you.  Ride into the future with those who are united in seeking an America of empathy and equality for all, with decisions that are factually based from knowledgeable experts for the benefit of the entire country, and the recognition that diversity is the strength of this democracy.

I agree with Theodore Roosevelt: “Patriotism means to stand by the country.  It does not mean to stand by the president.”

“Knowledge can never imprison you, but you can be captive to your ignorance.”  (A.E. Samaan, Investigative Historian)

Saddle up to a new horse.
