Development in Lone Tree’s RidgeGate community presses on despite setbacks from the COVID-19 pandemic and the virus’s economic impact.
Here is a look at some of what is happening:
Coventry Development, the master developer of the RidgeGate neighborhood, has kept up with $40 million in public infrastructure work during the pandemic, according to a Sept. 10 news release. Coventry is now shopping for a provider for its “state-of-the-art” fiber-optic and 5G network, the release states.
“Simple solutions like a reduced dependence on the car and the 5-gig fiber-optic internet network make life a bit simpler during an otherwise challenging time,” said Keith Simon, Coventry Development’s executive vice president.
Three residential projects in RidgeGate East, east of I-25, are now under contract, the release states. Construction on the first 2,500 RidgeGate East houses is expected to start early next year.
The Kiewit regional headquarters is expected to open next year. A 240-unit apartment complex at Sky Ridge Station is scheduled to begin construction by the end of this year.
“Our new regional headquarters in RidgeGate offers an ideal environment for our employees to live and work,” stated Alan Lincoln, Kiewit’s director of real estate.
Charles Schwab added to its 467,000-square-foot campus with a parking lot and mixed-use building called “The Conference Center at RidgeGate.”
Shea Homes submitted its preliminary plan to the city for a 1,900-home village near the RidgeGate Light Rail Station. New residents are expected in 2022, the release states.
Regency Residential submitted a site improvement plan to the city for approval of a 540-unit mixed-use, market-rate apartment complex. New residents are expected to move in as early as 2022.
Koelbel and Co. secured funding for a 67-unit affordable housing project at the RidgeGate Station. New residents will move in as early as 2022.
Schweiger Ranch, the 38-acre property in RidgeGate East, is continuing with its 2020 programming. The century-old ranch hosts outdoor events.
Tall Tales Ranch, a planned residential community for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities north of Schweiger Ranch, received approval from the city and will soon begin fundraising.
The last four-mile stretch of the East/West Regional Trail will be completed later this year. It will become the longest trail in the Denver metro area, spanning 26 miles from Highlands Ranch to the Cherry Creek Trail system in Parker.
“From the beginning, RidgeGate has made access to the outdoors a cornerstone of the community’s mission and it has made all the difference in our success over the last 10 years,” Simon said.
RidgeGate is home to 6,000 residents on the west side of I-25. Three new light rail stations opened last year. RidgeGate encompasses 3,500 acres and is intended to “seamlessly integrate urban amenities and residential neighborhoods with beautiful natural open spaces, parks and trails,” according to the Sept. 10 news release.
