The 7th annual Hope House 5K & Fun Run is taking place at Lake Arbor Park in Arvada, this Saturday, Aug. 22.
There are still in-person spots and donation opportunities available. The race will have a staggered wave start to help distance participants at the start line and along the course. Waves will be in five-minute increments starting at 9 a.m. for the 5K, with the last wave starting at 9:40 a.m. The Fun Run (1.4 mi.) begins at 10 a.m., with the last wave going out at 10:10 a.m. For those that would like to run or walk on their own, a virtual option is also available at registration! Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place 5K finishers in the following categories: Adult Male, Adult Female, Youth Male and Youth Female. There will also be a Virtual Race Prize for the fastest runner (virtual runners have the option to submit their finish times) and a runner’s gift basket up for grabs in a social media challenge (instructions given upon registration).
All proceeds for the event will support teen moms as they work toward self-sufficiency.
A third of Hope House’s income comes in through events each year.
