Norman (Norm) H. Happel was born March 23, 1924. he entered the Army Air Corps on December 8, 1942. He served in the Air Force until May 11, 1974. Norm retired as a Colonel. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Silver Star, the Armed Forces Reserve Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Combat Readiness Medal, and the ROK Presidental Unit Citation. Colonel Happel was on flying status for 30 years and accumulated 6,999 flying hours in 17 different aircraft.
Funeral Services for Norm Happel, COL, USAF (Retired) will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 20. Pre-staging will be at Staging Area C at 12:45. Please wear your American Legion cap to the service.
Memorial services will be held at American Legion Post 82 on Sat., Oct. 21st at 11:00 a.m. Please bring a dish to share with your fellow mourners.
