Cancer Support Group

Saturday, May 24, 11 a.m. – Noon — Platte Valley Medical Center offers a monthly support group to help cancer patients and their families cope with the uncertainties and overwhelming feelings that cancer brings. Research shows that a support group can help people emotionally and even improve their physical health through treatment. The Cancer Support Group is held in the hospital’s Oncology Clinic, which is located at 1606 Prairie Center Parkway in Suite 270 of the Medical Office Building. The Aging Brain: A Seminar for Caregivers

Wednesday, May 21, 6 p.m. — Join us as neurologist Rai Kakkar discusses the wide variety of illnesses that can affect the aging brain. If you’re caring for someone who suffers from dementia, Alzhiemer’s Disease, Parkinson’s, or a similar condition, please join us to learn about issues that affect caregivers and their families. Common diseases affecting the aging brain, diagnosis and treatment, caregiver stress and coping strategies, and community resources will be discussed. Dr. Kakkar is a board-certified neurologist at Platte Valley Medical Center who treats patients with neuromuscular disorders and Parkinson’s disease. He also cares for dementia, seizure, and stroke patients.
