Adams City’s baseball team certainly could have benefited from the seventh-inning stretch April 24 versus Thornton. Instead, the Eagles fell just short of a win as Thornton scored the tying and winning runs with two outs in the sixth inning for a 5-3 win.
Thornton’s final two at-bats ended in a base hit that tied the game at three all and a base hit that ended in two errors by Adams City on the final play to allow Thornton to pull ahead and take the win.
It was an agonizing loss for Adams City, whose record stands at 1-16 entering the last week of the regular season.
