AURORA — Fort Lupton’s Kalley Harriss rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Vista Peak’s Allie Embury April 25 to win the championship at No. 1 singles in the Colorado 7 League tennis tournament.

Bad weather delayed the completion of the tournament by almost a week.

Embury had a 3-1 lead in the first set. That’s when Harriss went to work. She won 11 of the last 12 games to take the title.

“I calmed down, and I was able to start the second set with a more positive attitude,” Harriss said. “The last with her was close. This time, I moved her around the court, and I stayed calm.”

We’ll have more on the match in Wednesday’s Fort Lupton Press.
