FORT LUPTON — The Weld Re-8 School District board of directors unanimously approved the proposed calendars for the 2014-15 school year at the regular board meeting on March 10.

The adopted calendar is similar to this year, with some slight changes to parent teacher and conferences (moved to October and March).

In addition, beginning Sept. 3, all schools, as well as bus routes will start one hour later each Wednesday to allow additional time for teacher professional development, data analysis and planning that is critical to increased student achievement.

Each Wednesday will be considered a late start with school starting one hour later in all schools.

Under the approved 2014-15 school calendar, school will start on August 11 for the high school and August 12 for kindergarten through middle school students. Preschool begins on Aug. 19.

Students will be off November 24-28, for Thanksgiving; and December 22 through January 5, for winter break.

Spring break in 2015 will be March 30 through April 3. The last day of school will be May 21, 2015 with graduation on Saturday, May 23.

All schools meet or exceed the requirements for school attendance as set forth in the Colorado Revised Statutes and Board of Education Policy IC/ICA. The calendar committee served as an advisory committee to the Board to gather information, give input into the next school calendar and communicate to the staff.

The approved calendar is posted on the district website at www.weld8.org.
