Hundreds of local kids hit center field at the Family Sports Dome on April 19 for the South Suburban Parks and Recreation annual egg hunt, sponsored by the City of Centennial and Kent Place. Separate hunts were organized by age group, up to age 12.
Along with the traditional scramble for brightly colored eggs, SSPRD’s fitness van kept egg hunters active with free Wii, hula hoops, pogo sticks and other activities designed to keep kids actives. The free, family-friendly event attracted approximately 150 kids from around the area.
More than 500 empty eggs were hidden around the field. Egg hunters could then trade the empty eggs in for healthy treats, small toys and other age appropriate items. Those lucky enough to find the single golden egg could select from larger prizes, including autographed sports items.
