In response to a national product hold, Littleton Public Schools
is pulling beef products from school menus.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently issued a “product
hold” on ground beef from Westland Meat Co. Westland, a
California-based beef supplier to federal food and nutrition
programs, was recently suspended by the agriculture department
because of an alleged mistreatment of animals.

While the school district does not receive beef from Westland,
it is taking precautions by putting a quarantine on all beef
products until it hears whether Westland beef is supplied through
any of the meat processing manufacturers the district uses.
