Zero emission is the way to go

Colorado should adopt Zero Emission Vehicle standards. General Motors, Ford and Volvo have made commitments to selling more electric vehicles. In fact, by 2022 there will be at least 21 electric SUV models made.

If we adopt ZEV standards, we have a better chance of making more of these vehicles available here in Colorado, including the new Subaru hybrid coming in 2019. This CrossTrek will only be available in states with ZEV standards.

We all want to save on transportation costs. It’s been shown that EV owners can save up to $1,000 per year on fuel costs. Additionally, as current EV owners have access to new models entering the market, more used EV’s at reasonable prices will be available for lower income communities. This will allow these new owners to save on fuel costs as well.

Ten states have already adopted these standards. Colorado deserves the same chance to save on fuel costs as people in those other states. Let’s continue to make Colorado the best state in the nation to buy an electric vehicle.
