Letter: Future of Depot looks bright

Thank you for your interest in the Englewood Depot building.

As someone closely involved in the ongoing planning for the Englewood Depot - as the president of the Board of Englewood Depot Inc., (known as The Letterpress Depot) which is the 501(c)3 Tom Parson founded to achieve his vision - I'd like to chime it. Tom is being modest about his efforts recently, and those of the entire board, to begin work on the building. We are launching a major fundraising initiative on May 1 to supplement the $34,000 the nonprofit has already raised for construction.

As Tom mentioned, we are ready with earmarked funds, architectural plans, landscaping design and a contractor. A permit for the first phase of reconstruction was submitted and is in the process of being approved by the city. Our plan is to begin work on the basement within the next few months. From there, we will focus our attention on pursuing additional funding through grants and fundraising to restore the historic upper level of the building.

We're very excited to tackle these major improvements and to continue to take necessary action in becoming a great community resource for the city of Englewood.

I'm happy to talk to anyone in more detail about the future of the Depot. Please reach out to me at pbergma3@msudenver.edu

President of the Board - The Letterpress Depot
