The Lakewood Police Department is investigating a robbery and shooting that happened at 8:55 p.m. April 5.
The victim is a 26-year-old man who was approached as he was getting out of his car and returning to his house in the 9000 block of West 14th Avenue, according to a news release from the department.
According to the release, a black man and woman approached him and robbed him of his cell phone and car keys. The man then shot the victim one time in the chest, the release continues. The suspects then ran to a white sedan, which was driven by a third person, and fled.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and is recovering from his injury. Lakewood Police are working to identify and apprehend the suspects.
