Youngster to compete in Miss Jr. Pre-Teen pageant
For 8-year-old Keara Burch, being in front of an audience doesn’t scare her one bit. In fact, it excites her. She loves the spotlight and being in front of the camera.
That confidence could suit her well during the upcoming Miss Jr. Pre-Teen Denver/Colorado Springs Pageant competition on Oct. 20 at Aurora Central High School.
“Keara is very open and friendly,” said Dan Feighert, her grandfather. “She just loves to meet people and talk to people.”
Burch is from Westminster and attends Weber Elementary School. For about a year she’s been taking modeling and acting classes at John Casa Blanca’s Career Center in Denver. She said she loves to sing and wants to make that her career; she’s been taking singing lessons since she was 6. Her favorite singers are Christina Aguilera and Carrie Underwood.
“We practice runway at John Casa Blanca,” she said. “And that’s what I’m most excited about for the pageant. I’m going to be wearing a long dress.”
If Burch wins the title of Miss Jr. Pre-Teen Denver/Colorado Springs, she will receive an expense-paid trip to Orlando, Fla. to represent the Denver/Colorado Springs area in the National Competition and have the opportunity to win a share of over $30,000 in prizes. But before she can get there, she has to win over the local judges with her interview and modeling skills.
“I’m not nervous for the pageant because I’m not shy and I like to be on stage,” she said.
Denver business Runge Tool & Supply Co. sponsored Burch’s participation in the pageant.
