Work underway on RidgeGate housing

33 single-family homes planned at NorthSky site


Construction on a 33-home development that fills in the one remaining gap on Crossington Way’s south side is under way in Lone Tree.

Berkeley Homes and Harvard Communities, the same partnership behind the adjacent Parkside solar home development, expects to open a model home in February 2014 with occupancy beginning next spring. Houses in NorthSky at RidgeGate will start in the $600,000s. Ranging from about 2,400 to 3,800 square feet with an option to finish the walk-out basements, the houses will each have four to six bedrooms.

“All of them should have some really spectacular views,” said spokeswoman Carol Barrington. “That whole area is pretty elevated, so they should all have mountain and city views, at least from the upstairs.”

Home sites likely will extend up the bluffs to the same height as homes at Bluffmont Heights, immediately west of the NorthSky site. Barrington said NorthSky’s stone-and-stucco homes will feature a slightly more contemporary design than the homes in Bluffmont.

The new neighborhood is taking shape between Bluffmont Heights and the under-construction Montecito subdivisions, across Crossington Way from Parkside.

The 31-home Parkside is sold out and nearing completion.

Montecito, which will have 142 homes at build-out, also is reporting brisk sales.

“We are on fire over here,” community sales manager Desiree James said. “Any home site that is released is sold within minutes. We have over 50 sales already, and we cannot keep up.”

Montecito is a Century Communities project. Home prices start in the low $500,000s.

All the housing projects are in RidgeGate, and are part of the reason the development’s west side is on an unexpectedly fast development track. Instead of the 15- to 20-year build-out of RidgeGate’s West Village, developers recently said they’re looking at a 10- to 15-year completion.

The bulk of RidgeGate is still untouched, however. It includes four square miles east of Interstate 25 and south of Lincoln Avenue that someday will be home to Lone Tree’s city center and urban-density development.
