One of the best ways to learn about different wines is to try a wine flight. Flights usually come in samples of three, (each about one ounce), and can be found in any wine bar across the nation. Another great thing about flights is they range in price, so you don't have to break the bank!

Start with a white wine flight, then move to a rose flight, and finish with a red flight. These three flights will help get your palate working to see what types of wines you like the most. If you are at a wine bar, ask your server or bartender for the information on the wines you like so you can buy it in the store. Many times we leave a restaurant forgetting the wines we had, so it’s sometimes a good thing to note what wines you drank for future reference.

Thinking about hosting a get together? Wine flights are a great addition to a party, and a clever take on wine tasting. Ask your friends to each bring a certain type of wine, (such as a Merlot), and create Merlot wine flights for your guests. You can also build a theme around your wine flights. Say you want to have a trip around the world dinner party. You can have wine flights from different countries that match the theme of your party.

Wine flights can be a fun way to figure out what type of wine you like best. You might even discover a new favorite wine!
