Musical thriller with book by Hugh Wheeler

Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim

Directed by David Grapes

Victorian Steampunk meets musical thriller in Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's chilling tale of murderous barber-ism and culinary crime. The unjustly exiled barber Sweeney Todd returns to 19th century London, seeking revenge against the judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. His thirst for blood expands to include his unfortunate customers. The resourceful proprietress of the pie shop soon has the people of London lining up in droves for her mysterious new meat pie!

Sophisticated, macabre and visceral, Sweeney Todd has a great sense of fun, mixing intense drama with howlingly funny moments of dark humor. Rated: PG-13
