Former state representative Ken Summers, R-Lakewood, was hospitalized on July 25, in Loveland.

He is being treated for encephalitis — which is an inflammation of the brain tissue — and is in critical condition.

House Minority Leader Brian DelGrosso, R-Loveland, released a statement on July 25 on behalf of the House Republican Caucus:

“We are all praying for Ken and his family, and we are keeping him in our hearts and minds. Ken was an excellent legislator and has never stopped serving his community. As a pastor and through his work at Teen Challenge of the Rocky Mountains, he has touched the lives of countless individuals.

We send him and his family our love and prayers for a speedy recovery.”

Sen. Andy Kerr, D-Lakewood, tweeted on July 25 “Thoughts & prayers for my friend Ken Summers & his family as he battles for his health. He is a fighter!”
