The European Team has never won the Solheim Cup on U.S. soil. Annika Sorenstam and Liselotte Neumann intend to change that.
The European Team, captained by the two LPGA legends, got to know the grounds at the Colorado Golf Club in Parker a little better July 2, just more than a month ahead of the biggest event in women's golf.
The Solheim Cup is expected to attract 125,000 people to Parker Aug. 13-18. Slightly less than half of them will travel from all over the world, and Sorenstam says she is hoping for strong support from the international crowds, especially in the face of home field advantage for the U.S. Team, which is headed by Dottie Pepper and Meg Mallon.
But first, she and Neumann made a point to visit with members of the Colorado media July 2. They spoke about the challenges of the renowned course and the importance of arranging the right pairings for the match-play tournament.
