Roundup: Willsey honored by Adams 12

NORTHGLENN - The Adams 12 Five Star School District recently honored Max Willsey.

Willsey has worked in several different areas within the school district over the previous 52 years.

He has served as a coach, teacher, assistant principal, athletic director and principal. He currently serves the Adams 12 as a member of the school board.

He even coached football, wrestling and track and field in the school district, and designed the Northglenn High School Letter Jacket in 1965.

POMONA TOPS RANKINGS: The Panthers still hold the top spot of the Class 5A rankings.

Pomona has four wrestlers ranked at the top of their wrestling class, Travis Torres (113 pounds), Josh Rosales (120), Raymond Robledo (132) and Archie Colgan (160). Austin Marvel was ranked second at 138 pounds, while Lucas Vagher (126) and Ethan Wright (152) was third for the Panthers.

Mountain Range’s Randy Boerner remained at the top at 152 pounds, while his teammate Jorge Rodriguez was ranked second at 285.

Horizon’s Anthony Cortez was ranked second at 106, while Legacy’s Conner Casady was second at 160 and Skyar McWee was third at 220 for the Lightning.

MONARCH INVITE: Thornton fell to Monarch, 43-25, at the Monarch Dual Tournament.

Dezmond Romero (106), Adrian Kois (138) and Allen LeBaron (220) each had a pin, while Joshua Cordova (170) won by a major decision for the Trojans.

MUSTANGS FALL TO INDIANS: Mountain Range swimming team won three of 12 events and fell to Loveland on Jan. 17, 116-70.

Shelly Drozda took first in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke, she also teamed Mackenzie Saenz, Amanda Kassel and Macayla Cross to win the 400 freestyle relay.
