support of Red Rocks scholarship
240 Union Restaurant in Lakewood is donating a portion of its proceeds to Arvada’s Red Rocks Community College in support of a scholarship fund.
240 Union, at 240 Union Blvd., is donating 25 percent of its food proceeds from lunch and dinner on Thursday, April 11, to support the Red Rocks Community College Foundation’s Swede Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The fund provides students in financial need with support to reach their educational and career goals.

The scholarship is named after Marvin D. ”Swede” Johnson, a former executive at Coors Brewing Company who was instrumental in the creation of the Red Rocks Foundation and served as its first president.
The Whole Foods Market at Belmar is holding a community gives day to benefit the Lakewood Legacy foundation on Wednesday, April 24.
Five percent of gross sales on that day will be used to help create a garden at O’Kane Park, 7101 W. 1st Ave.
Staff from the City’s Urban Parks Division will be onsite at Whole Foods from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 24 to talk to customers, answer general horticulture questions and hand out seed packets.
Centro Dones de Nuestra Comunidad will celebrate the Day of the Child with a free family health and wellness fair on Saturday, April 27.
The event will be held at O’Connell Middle School, 1275 S. Teller St., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There will be free health and wellness screenings, resources, giveaways, and fun activities for the whole family.
