Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation’s official Park and Recreation Month. This July the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) celebrates the simple joys afforded to the public by parks, trails and recreation facilities across the country and encourages you and your community to GET WILD about parks and recreation!

The Parker Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating with a list of fun activities. For starters, we will definitely GET WILD with a Zumba class on July 3 and relax a bit with Yoga in the Park on July 18, both at O’Brien Park. Additional activities will include a skate demo on July 13 and Boom Soccer demo on July 25 at Railbender Skate and Tennis Park.

We also encourage you to hit the trails. Join us for a walk along the Cherry Creek Trail from the Recreation Center on July 20. Or have you tried one of our Flat 14ers? You can trek the equivalent of a Colorado 14er right in your own community! Beginning July 23 through July 27 Parks and Recreation will hide rubber duckies along one of Parker’s Flat 14er trails. Find a duck and return it to the Fieldhouse, 18700 E. Plaza Dr, or the Recreation Center, 17301 E. Lincoln Ave., to claim your prize!

Find additional details about the specific Park and Recreation month activities and events online at www.ParkerRec.com. Help us celebrate National Park and Recreation Month and take advantage of all of the community events, beautiful parks and accessible trails that Parker has to offer year-round. Get out there and GET WILD!
