Two dozen students at a Lakewood school were treated for exposure to an unknown substance Monday afternoon, with four being transported to a hospital for further treatment.
The students at Jefferson County Open School, 7655 W. 10th St., were treated on scene for symptoms similar to an allergic reaction after recess on the playground.
As a precautionary measure students and staff are being evacuated to the First Prebysterian Church at 8210 W. 10th Ave. The school district has announced that parents of students at the school may now pick them up from that location.
West Metro Fire hazmat is on scene to determine the extend of the situation.
The parents of the small number of affected students will be contacted directly by the school.
