The series, named by exhibitors as a United States Hunter Jumper Association Member’s Choice award-winning competition, has been chosen as a distinguished World Champion Hunter Rider host event during the third and fourth weeks of the Colorado Horse Park’s six-week premiere AA-rated Summer in the Rockies show circuit. The venue has increased the Summer in the Rockies cash and prizes to over $1 million for 2014.
Only a handful of horse shows are chosen each year by USHJA for the distinction of being named a WCHR event host. Events are selected on an annual basis based on the evaluation of a submitted application, votes from WCHR members and selection criteria including exhibitor hospitality, event scheduling, awards presentations and the quality of the footing, courses, stabling, staff and more.
During Summer in the Rockies, the Colorado Horse Park will offer a $5,000 National Hunter Derby and the $15,000 International Hunter Derby during week three and a $10,000 National Hunter Derby and the $40,000 International Hunter Derby during week five.
