The recent resignation of Kelly O’Sullivan has created a vacancy on the Highlands Ranch Metro District Board of Directors.
O’Sullivan served the Metro District’s southwest region since she was appointed to the board of directors in December 2011 to fill out the remainder of Amy Stuart’s term. She then ran in May 2012, collecting 1,859 votes to beat out challengers John Warnick (1,324 votes) and Renee Anderson (1,281 votes) to keep the seat.
The former U.S. Air Force officer left her board position for personal reasons, said district spokeswoman Sherry Eppers. The board announced at its Feb. 20 work session — which O’Sullivan was absent from — that she would be invited to attend the Feb. 26 meeting so they could recognize and thank her for her service.
“Kelly has been a key member of the Metro District’s team and we appreciate her leadership role in our community,” said Metro District Board Chair Rick Owens. “We wish her all the best.”
Individuals who are interested in being considered for O’Sullivan’s vacated seat must submit a letter of interest by 5 p.m. on March 15. The letter may be mailed to Terry Nolan, Highlands Ranch Metro District, 62 Plaza Drive, Highlands Ranch, 80129, or dropped off at the same address.
The board will appoint O’Sullivan’s successor to serve until the time of the May 2014 election after interviewing qualified applicants. Those who wish to apply must be registered to vote in Colorado and must live in, or own property in, the southwest region of the Highlands Ranch Metro District.
The southwest region serves the western half of Highlands Ranch south of Wildcat Reserve Parkway and just north of Highlands Ranch Parkway as it wraps around.
