A high-speed pursuit of a carjacking suspect that started north of Denver ended this morning in northern Douglas County after the suspect crashed a stolen vehicle and was apprehended by sheriff's deputies.

Ryan Stone, 28, is suspected of stealing and carjacking multiple vehicles during a lengthy pursuit across the metro area that began in Longmont and ended just after 8 a.m. near the intersection of Peoria Street and Lincoln Avenue.

Douglas County Sheriff Dave Weaver said the suspect had been sideswiping cars and that his most recent stolen vehicle, a silver car, crashed into another automobile. The suspect ran from the car and was then apprehended by several sheriff's deputies.

A small child was reportedly in the first stolen vehicle in Longmont and is believed to be OK.

No information was immediately available on possible injuries.
