Green Thumbs' Delight

I grew up in Parker, when Parker Road (Highway 83) was only two lanes, and there was only a single traffic light in town, located at Main Street and Parker Road. I love the town and my husband, Kurt, and I have chosen to remain here, raise our children, build our family and our businesses.

We own two businesses in Parker, Hughes Landscaping and The Sod Guy. Four years ago, I made the decision to buy Pine Lane Nursery when it became available. We were looking to our future, and our kids’ futures, and believe the green industry is all about the future, too!

About the nursery

Pine Lane Nursery has been a Parker fixture since the 1980’s. It was originally located off Pine Lane, just north of Lincoln Avenue, and carried a large inventory of trees and shrubs that local ranchers and developers needed at the time.

But as the town of Parker grew, the nursery was relocated to our current location at 18200 Apache Drive, just south of Lowe’s on Twenty Mile Road. Parker’s growth brought new opportunities for the business as well, and for the past four years I have been expanding the nursery into a full service garden center.

What we do

The employees at Pine Lane Nursery are also ardent gardeners, nurserymen and horticulture lovers. We love showing our customers around our “yard”. Most new visitors are surprised to discover how large we are. With nearly seven acres, we have room for hundreds of large trees, including evergreens, shade trees, ornamental trees, and even fruit trees!

The shrubs are as plentiful as the trees, with large serviceberries that grow as tall as small trees, to small fragrant Miss Kim lilacs, or sweet smelling honeysuckle vines.

If you don’t know the difference between a lilac and a honeysuckle don’t worry--we love to help our customers with anything they need to know about their landscape. If you do know exactly what you want, we’ll help you load it. And if we don’t have what you’re looking for we will try to order it for you.

The staff at Pine Lane has a keen interest in what grows well in our challenging Colorado soil and climate. We make an extra effort to order plants that will do well in the gardens and landscape in this region. Of course there are wide disparities even within neighboring counties, so we try to learn as much about where you’re planting as possible. Then we are better prepared to make recommendations based on your specific landscape.

Since I have such a fondness for annuals and perennials, I have grown our inventory each summer to include a full selection of some beautiful flowers and groundcovers. This year we are rearranging the greenhouse to expand our selection, and allow easy access to all of the plants with plenty of carts for shopping! We strive to carry robust, hardy plants from the best growers in Colorado, many of them local and family owned.

Our retail shop is also expanding. I’ve ordered another season of unique lawn and garden statuary, ornaments and furniture. Last year our trellises sold out quickly, and our rustic animals were very popular. Beautiful assortments of pottery compliment any garden theme you have. I admit, I love to shop, and I order gifts and garden items that you won’t find in the department stores. You’ll find an assortment of distinctive items for your own landscape, or as a gift for a garden lover you may know.

We also have a team that can expertly handle planting any trees or shrubs you purchase from us—or, if you prefer to do your own planting, we can arrange to deliver the larger trees and shrubs. We have all the products you need to complete your DIY planting projects as well, including bagged soils, compost, mulch and fertilizers. Plenty of tools, gloves and advice as well!  We try to accommodate our customers, knowing that everyone has their own ideas about creating a beautiful garden and landscape!

As the owner of a small business that is very location-specific (it’s not easy to pack up trees, shrubs and plants and move to another location), I have a commitment to the town of Parker and the community we serve.

Please come in and introduce yourself. We are looking forward to working with you and becoming your local expert in all your garden and landscape needs.
