At approximately 4:15 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, Colorado Springs Police Department noticed what appeared to be a body in the water near Nevada and Las Vegas Streets while conducting flood patrols in the area. CSPD notified Colorado Springs Fire Department Heavy Rescue Team at 4:19 a.m.to respond to the scene. The Heavy Rescue Team recovered the remains of an unidentified adult male at 4:55 a.m.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed an autopsy earlier today and has identified the man as 54-year-old Danny Davis.
Davis’s next of kin have been notified.
"No other information is available," said a release from CSPD release Thursday afternoon.
"El Paso County Coroner’s office will have to conduct an autopsy to positively identify the body. Pending notification of next of kin the name will be released. Coroner’s office will determine the cause and manner of death. All information regarding this incident will be released by the Emergency Operations Center Public Information Center Officer at (719) 385-7135," according to an earlier release from CSPD's Kim Melchor, Public Communications Specialist

Flood patrol crews from Colorado Springs Police, Fire and Public Works worked throughout the night to monitor conditions and respond to potential flooding along the Westside of Colorado Springs.
Storm systems are forecasted to continue throughout the day. Citizens are encouraged to stay alert to news and weather alerts; avoid ditches, flooded and low-lying areas.
"More information will be released as it becomes available," the release said.
