Top girls runners — Melissa Anderson, Jr.; Savanna Dalton, Soph.; Kelsey Arbogast, Jr.; Gabrielle Pearson, Soph.

2013 outlook — Both teams will be relatively young and the girls team is deep with the possibility of being one of the strongest in the school's seven-year history. The boys team has a strong three front runners but depth could be a problem. Senior transfers Emma McLaughlin from Brussels, Belgium and Zach Tidwell from Michigan will bolster the teams.

Say what? — “Both teams are relatively still young this year which bodes well for the future,” said Kuhn.

CHAPARRAL

Coach — Rob Ferguson (boys).

2012 highlights — Boys were third in Continental League and second at regionals.

Top boys runners — Dominic Compoz, Jr.; Travis Anderson, Sr.; Devin Reasoner.

2013 outlook — Compoz, who finished 11th at the Class 5A state meet last season, is always a threat and newcomer Devin Reasoner could help the boys team.

Say what? — “We need our younger runners to step up and compete this year,” said Ferguson.

The boys team was third in the state meet a year ago, led by Rhodes' seventh-place finish. Bruins had runners during a summer camp, so if competition helps there were 105 runners attending the Bruins' summer camp.

DOUGLAS COUNTY

2013 outlook — Quistorff was 33rd in the state meet last season and Lucero was right behind in 34th place, and they'll look to improve this season.

Top boys runners — John Lundy, Sr.; Matt Berberick, Sr.; Zach Polonsky, Sr.; Richard Weigang, Soph.; Ben Jay; Lee Mahoney, Sr.; Nick Calwallader, Sr.; Jeremy Romero, Soph.

2013 outlook — The girls top three runners from last season, Reuter, Linscott and Giesen, return while Lundy and Weigang are the headliners on the boys team.

Say what? — “Finished 12th in state last year for both girls and boys teams and we were a bit disappointed in being out of the Top 10 in spite of qualifying for state for the ninth year in a row for both teams,” said Lee.

Say what? — “I think we will be a solid team. Our goal is to look at how to make the team better,” said Clifford.

LEGEND

Top girl runners — Delaney Fitzsimmons, Sr.; Molly Reicher, Sr. Kenzie Haberkorn, Jr.; Abbie Suntken, Soph; Abby Hendren , Soph.; Courtney Goodrum, Jr.; Ashlee Johnson, Sr.

Top boys runners — Connor Weaver, Sr.; Andrew Walton, Sr.; Blake Graf, Sr.; Carson Hart, Sr.; Tyler Matzke, Jr.;

2013 outlook — There were 135 girls and boys runners who showed up for the Golden Eagles' summer conditioning camp so there will be a lot of competition in practice. Weaver was 12th in the state championship last season and he'll be joined by Walton, Graf and a group of talented underclassmen to pace the boys team. Fitzsimmons and Reicher return from last season's girls state team but Dalby, the 2011 Colorado Coach of the Year, will have plenty of top-notch young runners to build another title contending team.

Say what? — “It's kind of starting to build,” said Dalby of the Golden Eagles' cross country tradition.

Top boys runners — Jake Blackburn, Jr.; Conner Skoglund, Sr.; Paul Bisesi, Sr.; Andy Tinlin, Sr.; Gabe Tauber, Jr.

2013 outlook — Girls team has four strong varsity runners but newcomers will have to solve the lack of depth. Boys have plenty of depth but lack experience.
