County ranked for job growth

Douglas County is ranked No. 5 among counties with the best job growth, according to a recent report from CNN Money.

The county had a 58.6 percent growth rate from 2000-11, according to the news service. Major companies like Dish Network, Sprint Nextel and Western Union all operate within Douglas County borders.

CNN Money also credits its proximity to Denver and Colorado Springs, the state's two largest cities, for the large job growth in the county.

This is great news for Douglas County and one of the main reasons that we need to remain focused on our local elections. We cannot allow people to hold positions in this county that do not have the common sense to represent the people well. Job growth is powerfully important to Douglas County.
