Body found in burning car on Pikes Peak Highway

The Colorado Springs Police Department is asking for help in identifying a body that was found in a burning vehicle about 6:10 p.m. Sept. 9 on the Pikes Peak Highway about half a mile from the Summit House.
Barbara A. Miller, senior public communications specialist for CSPD, said the department's Major Accident Unit responded and was on the scene investigating until well after 2 a.m. Sept. 10.
“It is believed that only one person was in the vehicle,” she stated. “Sadly, we are not able to determine if the person was male or female.”
Because of the charred condition of both the remains and the vehicle, Miller said it's going to take a “considerable amount of time” before the investigation is completed.
The vehicle is thought to be a four-door passenger car, possibly a Subaru with a black roof. Anyone with information about a family member or friend who did not return home Sept. 9 and who may have been near the Summit House or on the Pikes Peak Highway is asked to call the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000.
