East Street Properties picked up and moved a historic Golden home last week at 1812 Illinois St., and placed it at 410 9th Street. The home was scheduled for demolition to make way for a new welcome center by the Colorado School of Mines. The new location will be home to the Golden Well Being Collective, an alternative health care facility. According to local historian Rick Gardner, the house was previously owned by John Gray, the owner of the Mountain Park Service Station. The gas station was the last stop for tourists before they continued on to Lookout Mountain to drive around the Lariat Loop.
